As we reflect on the second quarter of 2025, Genequip celebrates a season of progress, partnerships, and purpose. From skills development to landmark agreements and community outreach, this quarter underscored our commitment to being more than a supplier; we’re a partner in Guyana’s growth story.
Walking the Talk on Workplace Safety
The quarter kicked off with a strong emphasis on workplace wellness. In April, Genequip proudly participated in the Ministry of Labour’s annual OSHA Walk, held under the theme "Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work."
Our team showed up in full force, walking in solidarity with industry peers and other stakeholders. This event not only raised awareness about modern safety practices but also affirmed Genequip’s dedication to being a proactive player in workplace wellness initiatives.
From Spark to Skill: Igniting Curiosity at BIT Fair
In May, we participated in the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) ‘Try-A-Skill’ Fair and Exhibition at the Arthur Chung Conference Center. This marked a celebration of 115 years of the institution’s invaluable contributions to technical and vocational training in Guyana. As long-time partners of BIT, we were honored to be part of this milestone event.
At our booth, attendees got a firsthand look at the technical skills that power our industry. From using multi-meters to test batteries and sensors to performing valve adjustments on two-stroke engines, our team provided hands-on demonstrations that sparked curiosity and inspired future careers. Visitors also explored exciting career opportunities at Genequip.
Enhancing Technical Expertise With Graco
Also in May, our service capabilities received a major upgrade. This training emphasized the value of Graco’s automatic centralized lubrication, a system that ensures every machinery component gets the right amount of lubricant, significantly extending equipment lifespan.
Senior Account Manager at Graco Inc., Jhon Hinestroza, highlighted during the training that automatic central lubrication enables every component within the machinery to receive the correct amount of lubricant. This, in the long run, extends the life of heavy machinery.
“This training aims to make people from Genequip understand the importance of centralized lubrication in any kind of machinery. Genequip is performing well during the training because they have enough resources and people to receive our knowledge.”
One of the participants and Genequip’s Electrical Technician, Josh Sookdeo, lauded the training, as he said,
“With this system, your operators can focus more on working rather than greasing the equipment, and you will have less downtime, and wear and tear on your equipment.”
Head of Department for Mining and Construction at Genequip, Daniel St Louis, added,
“This training brings more information to me so that I can guide my team and also bring more ease to customers.”
A Golden Partnership: Genequip and GMIN Collaborate on Landmark Project
Later in June, Genequip marked a significant milestone with the signing of a major equipment supply agreement with GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc., a subsidiary of G Mining Ventures Corp. The agreement, valued at over US$83 million, will support the development of GMIN’s flagship Oko West Gold Project in Region Seven.
Under this agreement, GMIN will acquire a fleet of more than 60 Komatsu mobile equipment units, with deliveries commencing in June and continuing through the project's ramp-up to production in 2028.

This partnership goes beyond machines. As Komatsu’s exclusive representative in Guyana since 1993, Genequip will also provide full after-sales support, including maintenance services, genuine parts, and technical expertise, ensuring that the fleet remains reliable and productive throughout the life of the project.
The occasion was commemorated with a symbolic painting presented by the Genequip team to the Chief Executive Officer of G Mining Ventures Corp, celebrating the shared vision of sustainable development and long-term value creation in Guyana.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to equipping our team with the highest quality machinery, ensuring both operational excellence and safety,” said Gignac, while also emphasizing GMIN’s dedication to sustainability, local capacity building, and community impact in Region Seven.
Following the agreement, Genequip organized an Operators’ Skill Test in preparation for the Oko West project. The evaluation aimed to assess applicants’ ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently, while also identifying training gaps to address in future programs. For Genequip, this moment represents more than a supply contract. It’s a partnership rooted in trust, performance, and a shared belief in Guyana’s mining potential.
Cultivating Knowledge: CPCE Teachers Receive Hands-On Learning
Meanwhile, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of Agricultural Science teachers from the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) for an educational field visit aimed at enhancing practical knowledge in implements and safety protocols.
The visit formed part of CPCE’s ongoing efforts to bridge theory with real-world application. These educators, who are shaping future agricultural professionals, gained firsthand insights into the functionality, safety, and operational best practices of modern farming equipment.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees described the experience as insightful and valuable to their teaching journey. We believe these exchanges are key to fostering a future where agriculture thrives with the right tools and the right knowledge.
Quarter two has been a testament to Genequip’s values: staying at the forefront of innovation, investing in our team, and giving back to the communities and industries we serve. We’re excited for what the next quarter holds as we continue to build a future grounded in expertise, service, and sustainability.
