As the momentum continues to build ahead of what is anticipated to be the biggest and best Bartica Easter Regatta ever, the new Organizing Committee, Town Council of Bartica has been gradually attracting sponsorship to take care of its multi-million dollar budget.

Following last week’s first press briefing which also saw the nine contestants for the Miss Bartica Regatta Pageant being introduced at the Pegasus Hotel, Genequip took the opportunity to present their sponsorship to His Worship, Mayor Gifford Marshall.

Making the presentation was Mr. Harold Babulall, Accounts Manager of Genequip who said that his company was very pleased to be associated with the Easter spectacle which attracts thousands of Guyanese including hundreds from the Diaspora.

“Our contribution towards regatta is to help develop the product and make it more successful as well as seeing it expand even more.”
Mayor Marshall expressed gratitude on behalf of his Council and the people of Bartica to Babulall and Geneuip.

”I wish to congratulate Genequip and the private sector for their continued support as we make Regatta 2019 a success. This Regatta of course will cost millions of dollars in investment and we’re very, very grateful for this support.”

Meanwhile, activities on the sports front is expected to get cracking at the Bartica Community Center Ground with cricket, dominos and volleyball.

Dominos would be contested at the Inter Department level with a first place prize of $50,000 and second being $30,000. Cricket would be played at the inter club level with first and second place prizes pegged at $100,000 and $50,000, respectively.

Some six teams will be facing off in the volleyball tournament, namely, Impact, Under-19 Warriors, Almanac Kings, Rough Neck, Bartica Secondary and Three Miles Secondary.

At stake are prizes for the first and second placed teams of $75,000 & trophy and $50,000 & trophy. The Most Valuable Player of the final; would receive a trophy.
